Kay Stelmach Larkin
A native of Reading, PA from a family of physicians, Dr. Kay Stelmach Larkin received a BS in biology from Villanova University. She then earned her VMD degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1982. After two years in private practice in southern New Hampshire, she returned to Berks County and has been practicing here since that time.
She opened Larkin Veterinary Center in 1997, to pursue her special interest in feline medicine and surgery while maintaining personalized care for her canine patients in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Other areas of interest of Dr. Larkin are dentistry, senior and geriatric medicine, endocrinology, dermatology, and critical care medicine.
Dr. Larkin has three children, Jennifer, Thomas, and Peter. Jen is pursuing a career as an addiction counseling assistant, specializing in adolescent girls for which her degrees in teaching, art, and graphic design have been valuable assets. Tom is an accredited professional mechanical engineer and works on the design and modeling of thermal and hydraulic systems for natural gas combined cycle power plants. Pete is currently working at Larkin Veterinary Center as a veterinary nurse assistant and client care specialist while pursuing educational opportunities.
Dr. Larkin is recently engaged to her life partner, David, a retired nuclear reactor operator, and nuclear power plant project manager. When not caring for your pets, she enjoys horseback riding, photography, gardening, traveling, fishing and boating, and reading. Dr. Larkin's spare time is often spent on her passion for riding and showing her horse, Kandy. The rest of her family includes her beloved Tibetan Spaniel named Kipley, a very special Singapura cat named Alfie, and her extra-large mixed breed cat Gina, and the comical Jack Russell terrier cross, Pomeroy.
