Dr. Kay Stelmach Larkin
Providing Exceptional Pet Care
B.S. Villanova University;
V.M.D. University of Pennsylvania

A native of Reading from a family of physicians, Dr. Kay S. Larkin received a BS in biology from Villanova University. She then earned her VMD degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1982. After two years in private practice in southern New Hampshire, she returned to Berks County and has been practicing here since that time.

She opened Larkin Veterinary Center in 1997, to pursue her special interest in feline medicine and surgery, while maintaining personalized care for her canine patients in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Other areas of interest of Dr. Larkin are geriatric medicine, endocrinology, oncology and critical medicine.

Dr. Larkin has three children, Jennifer, Thomas and Peter.  Jen is pursuing a career in teaching. Tom is an engineer and Pete is involved in the automotive industry. When not caring for your pets, she enjoys horseback riding, photography, traveling and reading.

Dr. Larkin's spare time is often spent on her passion of riding and showing her horse, Theo, and once in a while you may find her kayaking on a Canadian lake.  The rest of her family includes her beloved Corgi mix, Houston and a very special Singapore cat named Meatball.

Dr. Nancy Nelson
B.S. Ursinus College
V.M.D. University of Pennsylvania


Also a Berks County native, Dr. Nelson grew up in Morgantown and received her BS from Ursinus College. She then graduated with a VMD from the University of Pennsylvania in1987. After practicing in Delaware for three years, she returned to Berks County where Dr. Nelson’s and Dr. Larkin’s paths crossed as they worked in the same animal hospital.

 Prior to joining Larkin Veterinary Center in 1999, Dr. Nelson pursued private practice in Morgantown, developing her special interest in birds, exotic animals, and wildlife, while continuing to provide quality care for cats and dogs. She is a past president of the Mid Atlantic Association of Avian Veterinarians. Dr. Nelson also enjoys canine and feline medicine and surgery.

Dr. Nelson and her husband Mike, also from Berks County, have two children, Christopher and Emily. Her interests include horseback riding, gardening, and spending time with her family and their pets at home.
 
Dr. Melina Boston
B.S. Cornell University
V.M.D. Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine

Dr. Boston was born in Alexandria, Virginia and attended Cornell University where she received her B.S. and then went on to the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. After practicing in Maryland and Colorado, she joined LVC in November of 2007. Her special interests include feline medicine, surgery, and geriatric medicine.

Dr. Boston’s family includes her husband, Travis, an equine veterinarian, her dog, Hooch and, 2 cats, Sebastian and Keiska, and a boa constrictor, Lola. She enjoys hiking with her dogs, biking, and traveling when she has time.


Dr. Lisa Noble
V.M.D. University of Pennsylvania

Dr. Noble graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. After spending a year in Kentucky where she completed a surgical internship, Dr. Noble returned home and started practicing small animal general medicine. She currently practices emergency medicine at a local emergency service in addition to recently becoming a member of the Larkin Veterinary Center team. Dr. Noble’s interests include emergency medicine, general surgery, and feline medical and surgical problems.

In her spare time, Dr. Noble enjoys playing with her 5 wonderful cats and riding her Friesian horse, Rohan. She also likes hiking, camping, and fixing up the new house with her soon-to be-husband, Thorsten.

Melissa Kaucher
has one of the cheery
voices you hear when you call Larkin Veterinary Center. She has several duties, including being a client care specialist, office assistant, and telephone liaison. Melissa was a client of LVC when we first noticed she had an exceptional enthusiasm for pets. In 2004, we recruited her for our team as a client care specialist. Melissa has four cats, K.C., Bumble, Tigger and Caesar, two dogs, Louie and Alley.



Judy Kuehn
is the Pet Behavior Resource for Larkin Veterinary Center. Her role is to consult with you on any behavioral issues you may have with your pet. Examples include fighting between dogs and cats, cats not using their litter boxes, destructive behaviors towards you, themselves or your house. It could include bad habits, or any behavior which could be frustrating for you. After taking a behavioral history, Judy will give you simple exercises and strategies to modify your pet's activities to help him or her become a more well-adjusted member of your family as he or she develops more socially acceptable behavior. Judy has worked in medical areas for over 16 years, 12 of which have been with Dr. Larkin. She has attended 10 regional and national behavioral conferences, raised three children and owned cats, dogs, horses, birds, reptiles, and pocket pets. Her own dog, Gunther, pushed her into the world of pet behavior counseling, and she enjoys every minute of it.




Jamie Marks
is the Practice Manager. Her love for the veterinary field, especially cats, began in 1994 when she first worked at a feline hospital in Philadelphia, where she gained valuable experience as a receptionist. Jamie came to Berks County in 1998 to attend Albright College. Jamie is a member of the Veterinary Hospital Managers Association, and currently is enrolled at St. Petersburg College, working towards a business degree and her certification as a Certified Veterinary Practice Manager. She feels that all pets are "perfect in every way". Jamie is passionate about LVC's mission providing high quality veterinary care in a compassionate and gentle environment. The management of our patients including those seen as outpatients, in-patients, or guests of our boarding suite, are Jamie's top priority. She works with doctors and health care team to ensure that your pet is treated like one of her own, celebrated and spoiled! Jamie also has a special interest in canine behavior issues. Her family includes Ryan, two dogs, Phillie, a German Shepard, Snoopy, a Beagle, and her two cats Simba and Stutle.

Sharon Oliverio is a Client Care Specialist , and she loves to talk to people about their pets. Sharon has one of the cheerful voices you may hear when you telephone LVC. Sharon first came to Larkin Vet as a Good Samaritan when her dog donated blood for one of our patients. She immediately felt a bond to our doctors and team, and started working part time for LVC in 2000. She has five cats and five dogs (all collies), and one horse.

Bridget Schannauer
is LVC's Office Supervisor. She has ten years of experience in veterinary hospitals. She began working for Dr. Larkin when LVC was limited to house calls, and has been with the West Lawn office since its inception in 1997. During her career, she has attended several continuing education seminars for receptionists, leaders, and client services. She feels that client service and education are integral parts of her role upholding LVC's mission, Celebrating, protecting, and treating your pet like one of our own. Her family includes husband Jeff, children Christopher and Melissa, and two collies, Cheyenne and Dakota.

Meghan Brown
is a veterinary nursing assistant that you will meet during your pet’s out patient visit. She has been with the Larkin team since 2004. Meghan started out as a kennel tech., cleaning the hospital and now is a full time nurse assistant.  Meghan has a cat named Rusty.  Meghan would like one day to have a goat.

Tiffany Long is a veterinary nurse that started at LVC in May, 2000 as a kennel assistant. She has worked her way up to veterinary nurse and medical supervisor in January 2009. Tiffany’s knowledge of the veterinary field has been gained through continued education, seminars, and LVC. Tiffany’s strong passion for excellent patient care and preventative wellness ensures that every patient is lovingly cared for like one of our own. Her family consists of husband, Brian, one child (on the way), and her solo cat, Kitty.
